Myofascial Release is a gentle, hands-on treatment that uses sustained pressure to address restrictions within the fascial system—the connective tissue that surrounds and supports structures throughout the body. Rather than focusing only on where you feel discomfort, treatment looks at patterns of tension and restriction throughout the body that may be contributing to how you move and feel.
-
Treatment may be helpful for individuals experiencing chronic pain or tension, headaches or TMJ-related discomfort, neck, back or hip pain, postural or mobility restrictions, scar-related tightness, or difficulty returning comfortably to everyday activities.
Because every person and body is different, your initial assessment helps determine whether treatment is appropriate for your individual needs and goals.
-
All new clients begin with an Initial Assessment + Treatment appointment. Your first visit includes an additional 30 minutes so we have time to discuss your health history, current concerns, daily activities, movement patterns, mobility, areas of restriction, and your goals.
After your assessment, you'll still receive your full scheduled hands-on treatment time. This allows us to develop an individualized approach without taking time away from your treatment.
-
The treatment itself is individualized in either setting. In-office appointments are provided at my treatment space, while mobile appointments bring your session directly to your home.
Mobile treatment can also give me insight into the environment where you perform your everyday routines, allowing us to address positioning, movement patterns, ergonomics, or activities that may be contributing to your symptoms.
-
As an occupational therapist, I look beyond the location of your symptoms to understand how pain, tension, mobility, posture, and movement are affecting your everyday life.
Myofascial Release may be combined with therapeutic movement, positioning, body mechanics, activity modification, and education to help you carry the benefits of treatment into the activities that matter most to you.

The Dolphin Neuro-stim is a handheld device that delivers gentle microcurrent stimulation and may be incorporated into your treatment when appropriate.
I use the Dolphin for techniques including scar release, vagus nerve stimulation, and needle-free acupoint stimulation. It is an adjunct to your individualized treatment rather than something every client is required to receive.
-
The vagus nerve is an important part of the parasympathetic nervous system, which helps the body transition toward a state associated with rest, recovery, and relaxation.
The Dolphin uses gentle electrical stimulation at specific areas around the ear to provide non-invasive stimulation in a region where a branch of the vagus nerve is accessible. This may be incorporated into a session to support relaxation and autonomic regulation and can be particularly useful before hands-on treatment when the body is having difficulty settling or relaxing.
-
Scars can sometimes contribute to areas of tightness, sensitivity, or decreased tissue mobility even after the initial healing process is complete. Gentle microcurrent may be used alongside hands-on techniques to address the tissue surrounding a healed scar and support mobility within the area.
-
The Dolphin can also provide gentle microcurrent stimulation to selected acupuncture and trigger points without the insertion of needles. Points may be selected based on your symptoms, areas of tension, and overall treatment goals.
-
Please avoid applying lotion or oils before your appointment. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothing is recommended, and bringing or wearing shorts and a sports bra or similar garment can make it easier to access the areas being treated while maintaining your comfort and privacy.
-
There isn't a set number of sessions that works for everyone. Your needs may vary depending on how long you've experienced your symptoms, the areas involved, your body's response to treatment, and your individual goals.
We'll discuss recommendations as we go so that your treatment plan continues to reflect what your body needs rather than following a predetermined number of visits.
